The Enchanted Light of Muriwai

I created this artwork after witnessing the extraordinary light at Muriwai — when the sky ignites in violet, turquoise, gold and flame, and the ocean mirrors every colour back to the horizon.

Using premium merino wool and fine silk fibres, I carefully wet felted each layer by hand with water, olive oil-based Marseille soap, and my own hands. The silk creates luminous highlights, giving the sky movement and the sea a glowing reflection that changes subtly with the light.

This is not paint.
This is fibre shaped into a landscape.
